arlos Flores-Mir is a tenured professor, orthodontist, and researcher at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, where he served for 15 years as the Graduate Orthodontic Program Director. Trained in Lima, Peru, he moved to Canada in 2002 for postdoctoral studies. He is a Canadian RCDC (orthod). Among orthodontics' most-cited academics, he has authored 518 peer-reviewed articles and 12 book chapters, with an H-Index of 70 and 15,500+ citations. He is Associate Editor for The Angle Orthodontist, Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research, and the Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists, and has given 200+ talks in 33 countries. He also serves on dental sleep medicine committees (AADSM, AAO, CDSA). In 2025, he received the David Turpin Outstanding Orthodontic Educator Lecture Award and a Research Excellence Award, as well as honorary society memberships and visiting professorships in Spain and Peru.
