Giordano Daniela

Daniela Giordano (MS Electronics Engineering from University of Catania, 1990, cum laude; PhD from Concordia University Montreal, 1998) is Full Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Catania, where she teaches “Cognitive Computing and Artificial Intelligence”. Director of the Computer Engineering MS degree (2013 -2020); Coordinator of the Catania Node of the CINI National Laboratory AIIS (Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems); co-founder of the Perceive Lab (http://www.perceivelab.com). At the core of her research, which is highly interdisciplinary, are learning processes of both artificial and natural systems. A substantial part of her research activity has been devoted to the development of AI-based technologies to address problems in the medical and environmental monitoring domains, as well as to improve human–machine interaction, through pattern recognition in images, videos and biosignals, and the automatic extraction of knowledge from heterogenous data.
