Graduated with honors in Dentistry from Sapienza University (Rome), completed the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Implantology and an Italian Board Certified Specialist in Periodontology and Implantology. He is in private practice, with a clinical focus on periodontology and implant dentistry, at Gianserra Dental Clinics in Rome and Campobasso, Italy. He is the author of scientific publications and has been an invited speaker at more than 350 national and international congresses. He has served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and teaches in postgraduate Master’s programs at Sapienza University (Rome), Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, UniCamillus, Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, the Universities of Ferrara, Turin, Florence, Chieti, and Molise. He currently serves as Treasurer of SIdP.
